Otto Siegel facilitated “Think, Act and Speak ‘Out of the Box’” in two locations of our company – two workshops for technical leaders, two for managers and two keynote presentations. In all cases, the workshops were highly experiential, fun, and practical. In the full-day workshops, students rated content and Otto’s facilitation skills as a “1” (on a scale of 1-5, with 1 being “Excellent”). I was never good enough!
I felt never good enough and now I know my genius and my life is ‘on’ in every way!
I went from a college drop-out to a Marine Corps Sergeant, back to a college student, to a financial analyst, back to a college student, then a program manager, and back again to a financial analyst. Yet I was never good enough for myself. I found myself to be at constant war with my own internal high standards. Since school was easy, I would think I was not challenging myself enough. I would procrastinate on anything I did.
After completing the Genius Coaching Foundation Program in 2006, Andy started a new career as account executive. Recognizing his genius has helped Andy to make 85% of his quota in only the first quarter of 2007.
I found myself playing games with my grades at school just to see if I could get an “A” by the end of the course. I sometimes felt I was lazy and not good enough to truly excel, even though I graduated summa cum laude with honors, was Marine of the Year of my unit, and was the youngest individual in program management at Boeing Mesa.
Otto and Susanna’s Genius Coaching model allowed me to step back and pause. Otto walked me through my internal game and made me realize that I am not lazy; I am simply a genius at what I do. I truly now believe that I have accomplished more in my short life than many people will in a life time. I am an intense high performer who accepts nothing less than success. The things that are simple in my life are that way because it is my natural genius. Otto has given me the tools to be able to understand myself in ways I have never imagined. He has taught me to embrace my strengths and forget about my weaknesses. My internal war is over. I can’t begin to put a monetary value on the gift he has given me. I Started a Business Based on My Genius
When I started coaching with you genius was a completely foreign concept to me. I really used to think that other people lacked common sense instead of accepting that I was a genius in this special area (marketing strategies).Embracing and understanding my own small successes helped me to focus more on the ‘good to great’ concept instead on weaknesses. The corporate world had encouraged me to improve on my weaknesses.
Genius Coaching was about what you were talented and things that are so easy that you almost feel guilty to charge for it. That is when I started to understand it; it was a huge paradigm shift for me.
I figured out how to charge for my knowledge and feel comfortable. I am NOT a starving artist.I truly see my genius; owning up to it forces you to be responsible for this knowledge. It’s like Maryann Williamson’s famous poem puts it:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world…”
My business grows, even if it is still in its infancy. Others who started at the same time already jumped ship and went back into jobs.
When you operate inside your genius you don’t worry so much about cash flow; it’s just a part of running a normal cycle of business and has nothing to do with your personal genius. You just have to become more creative and determined to move forward.
Once I accepted my personal genius, I began to play big, develop my talents, hire people to compliment my weaknesses and have the confidence to know I am building a business that will be a legacy for my children.
When I show my genius, I am giving others permission to show theirs. And, what’s more – I know it when I see it in others and can immediately celebrate their genius with them.

Owner Karen Watts-Edwards Faced Difficult Decisions after a Devastating Injury
Glendale, Arizona. Karen Watts-Edwards had dreamed to be co-owner with husband Bill of the best urgent care in the Phoenix metropolitan area. But in that dream, her role was as Physicians Assistant, not as head of the business. Then real life intervened and Karen was left with difficult personal and business decisions.
Bill Edwards has been a business innovator at Advantage Urgent Care since he and wife Karen purchased the business in 2003. Bill pioneered Advantage Web Check-in™, allowing patients to check-in from home or work. He developed techniques for more effective use of doctors in urgent care, and he converted paper charts to electronic medical records well ahead of the industry. Then an injury changed everything.
Bill suffered brain damage in 2006 as a complication of routine surgery, and he was no longer able to lead the business. After the full extent of the injury became clear, Karen had important decisions to make.
“Bill was the genius behind our business, and I wasn’t sure we could go on without him,” said Karen, who in addition to being Bill’s wife is a Physicians Assistant at Advantage Urgent Care. Karen had always enjoyed working on the medical side while Bill led the business side.

I would like to thank Genius Coaching, in particular Otto. I have a successful weed control business in the greater Phoenix, AZ. area and have been in business for over 25 years.
